The Dark Side of E Scooters: A Crisis of Convenience Over Caution The proliferation of e scooters in England has become a double edged sword, offering an eco friendly mode of transportation but also contributing to a surge in injuries among children.

Between 2019 and 2024, there were 477 e scooter related injuries involving under 16s, with an average age of those involved being just 12.

Most incidents occurred on private land, despite the fact that rented e scooters are regulated and restricted to public roads.
